Zero upfront cost and built-in checkout — but it won't fully replace a paid creator program.

TikTok Shop's affiliate program lets creators tag your products directly in videos and earn a commission on sales, with no upfront fee required from the brand. That zero-risk structure is why so many D2C brands have piled in.

The upside is real: low cost of entry, built-in checkout, and creators are financially motivated to make content that actually sells rather than just looks good. The catch is that commission-only affiliates tend to gravitate toward products that are easy to sell on impulse — lower price points, visually demonstrable benefits, fast gratification. Higher-consideration or premium products often need a paid component layered on top to get serious creator attention.

Worth testing for most D2C brands, but don't expect it to fully replace a paid creator program — it works best as one channel among several.
